Pookie Helps
Pookie Helps
My name is Pookie. I was rescued from the wilds of Transylvania when I was a wee thing. Now I live inside where it's warm in the winter and cool in the summer, where it's dry when it rains, and I don't have to worry about other animals attacking me. I'm fed four times a day, and I have lots of toys. My favorite things are treats, playing with floss, soft pillows and kisses. I want to help other kitties be saved and find loving forever homes like mine.
What We Do
Pookie Helps sells handmade crochet Pookie Bags and donates 100% of every sale to a community-based, non-profit (501c3) animal rescue organization.
Pookie Bags are created using the Wrapped Ombre Tote Bag pattern by Tamara Kelly. The pattern can be found at https://www.mooglyblog.com/wrapped-ombre-tote-bag/
History
In 2017, Unit Publicist James Ferrera was working on a film, The Nun, shot on location in Romania. While shooting scenes at Bethlen Castle in Criş, Mureş County, Transylvania, Ferrera and the crew were captivated by the feral, friendly and utterly adorable young Pookie who paraded around the Craft Service tent in the company's base camp, pouncing on bugs and procuring scraps of food and lots of rubbies. The entire crew was smitten by Pookie, and ultimately, Ferrera couldn't bear to leave him behind.
Mission
Combining two passions, crochet and animal welfare, Ferrera decided to offer these Pookie Bags for sale to help raise money for animal rescue organizations, ensuring 100% of the sale benefits the animals.
The animal rescue organizations benefiting from Pookie Helps are Kitten Rescue, Morongo Basin Humane Society, Pasadena Humane, Santé D'Or, and Zazzy Cats Kitty Rescue.
